Mission Email - Weeks 1-2 (zapatos en su cara)
February 3, 2026
¡Hola familia y amigos!
I have officially been a missionary for 2 weeks now so let me give you all a rundown of what's been happening.
On January 18th I was set apart as a missionary in Billings Mt and I started home MTC on the 19th! My companion's name is Hermana Scott and she is AMAZING! She is from Texas and is also headed to Pachuca in March. When we met we instantly became besties!
I did home MTC (Missionary Training Center) for 10 days which meant 6-10 hours of zoom every day. However, it went super fast! My district is awesome and my teachers are literally the kindest people on earth. Shout out Hermana Reyes and Hermano Maza. It was also super nice to spend some quality time with my family, play lots of games, go to my little brother's basketball games and get adjusted to being a missionary.
On the 29th I woke up at 2:30 am went to the Billings airport and had a hard goodbye with my family. (If any of you heard of a really beautiful middle aged women having a break down in the Billings airport on Thursday morning, it was most likely my mother). Then I got on a plane to Salt Lake City. After getting to Salt Lake I was alone for a while at my gate but slowly more and more missionaries showed up until there were 70 of us missionaries getting on a plane to fly to beautiful Mexico City! After getting to Mexico we drove an hour to the MTC.
I have now been in Mexcio for about 5 days and the MTC is AMAZING! It seriously is like FSY without any counselors. We basically are just going to classes, eating meals, walking around campus, enjoying the perfect weather and feeling the spirit. I truly think that this is what heaven is going to feel like. We also got to go to the temple this morning and do an endowment. The Mexico City temple is HUGE. There were 6 escalators INSIDE the temple.
During a Prediccad Mi Evangelio clase this week, our teacher Hermana Reyes told the elders in our district that if anyone ever decided to shave their heads or get a buzz cut then she would put her zapatos en su cara -shoes in their face. So we've been laughing about that all week.
Pensamiento Espiritual
On Sunday we talked about lot about faith. I read a talk from Elder Neil L. Anderson. He said "Faith in Jesus Christ is a gift from heaven that comes as we choose to believe." This quote really stood out to me. I can choose to believe in Jesus Christ. I know that I don't know everything, but I do know that I have enough faith to continue on the path of discipleship. I can't wait for the experiences I am going to have as a missionary both here at the CCM (Spanish for MTC) and in Pachuca.
I love you all so much! You can email me anytime but I can only respond on my P-days which are Tuesdays ;)
